Bruno is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Medical Physics at the University of Minnesota – Radiation Oncology Program. He holds a Master of Science in Applied and Interdisciplinary Physics, with an emphasis on Biophysics and Radiobiology, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics with an emphasis in Medical Physics from the same institution.
His past research experience includes the use of optical bright-field microscopy to analyze cell membrane fluctuations and to assess radiation-induced structural damage in red blood cells. His research results were presented at the AAPM Annual Meeting (Los Angeles, 2024).
Current Position: Research Assistant – Brachytherapy Research Lab
The position includes the following work responsibilities, among others:
Clinical support activities in a brachytherapy environment, including calibration of radioactive seeds and maintenance of accurate documentation; management of proper seed storage accounting for radioactive decay; logging paperwork and keeping all related documentation up to date; laboratory maintenance and supply management; sending materials for sterilization after surgery; imaging and treatment planning support, including image registration and seed localization; and performance of radiation surveys in the operating room after surgery and post-implant patient radiation readings.
